About the artist: Allison Welch

My connection to horses and the equestrian is the spark for my creative process. I’ve been in love with horses for as long as I can remember. As a young girl, I drew horses obsessively, poring over images, replicating them, and studying equine anatomy. I refined my drawing and painting skills throughout my teenage years and into adulthood, attending the Minneapolis College of Art Design and earning my BA in painting. While my career took a detour into nonprofit fundraising, I returned to horses as an adult, which reignited my desire to paint. After years of practice, I began offering custom equine portraits to friends and now to the broader world of horse people.
